    Hi Tom,
Thank you for participating in the Innovation Challenge, we appreciate your question.
The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) protects sensitive patient data. Any solution that is designed to deal with protected health information (PHI) must ensure that all the required physical, network, and process security measures are in please and followed in order to comply with HIPAA.

PHI refers to any information about health status, provision of health care, or payment for health care that is created or collected by a Covered Entity or a Business Associate of a Covered Entity. Under HIPPA, Covered Entities include 1) health plans, 2) health care clearinghouses, and 3) health care providers that transmit any health information.

I hope this helped answer your question. Please let us know if you have any additional questions or concerns.

    Thanks,
    the MDP Team

Is it a factor in the judging process that the product / prototype be compliant? It's a lot more work to do so. Sounds like the challenge leans towards integrated provider solutions, which is covered by hipaa.
